Fandom Friday: Final Destination 5

First Fandom Friday!!! YAY! And in this awesome first installment, I give to you a review of the movie me and Gaby went to see Tuesday for our anniversary.

Final Destination 5 is a movie worthy of 3D...and after the cut, I'll tell you why!

Now, those who want to boycott this movie because the previous one was "The Final Destination". DO NOT LET THAT DISSUADE YOU! It was amazing.

Now, after four installments of this movie, the budget has gotten bigger and the ideas have gotten gorier, I feel that FD5 has the best opening scene, but some of the deaths weren't what I expected. This is one series that I'll watch no matter how many they make (much like SAW).

I don't know how to properly review this movie without spoiling it lol

There is a cleverness to this movie that was lacking in the previous ones. The cast actually does a good job, and one of the actors.... Gaby was convinced it was Tom Cruise (LOL). Actually, he looks more like the lovechild of Christian Bale and Tom Cruise.

I was leery about the 3D, because I saw Piranha in 3D and it wasn't that great in 3D, but FD5 utilized the 3d to its fullest.

As always Tony Todd was awesome, even though he was in it for only a short bit. There were no big names in this one, which was nice. Some of the acting was kind of dry and dull, but the death scenes made it worth it.

Now, I've been watching Horror movies since I can remember, and not much skeeves me out anymore or scares me, but there were a few moments where I was clinging desperately to Gaby's arm.

All in all, the movie was fantastic... if you like this type of movie, and I know not everyone does. But it deserves a watch in the theatres. AMC/Cinemark is doing a summer special that movies are generally cheaper. We paid $10.50 a piece for 3D which was awesome for CA prices lol

Final Destination 5 is my favorite sequel of the series. It doesn't outshine the original, but it does awesome as a sequel.

Oh, and for anyone who's seen all the movies, you'll appreciate the opening credits. And make sure you stick around for the ending credits as well.

Two new features of Neekly Chic!

In my deliriousness of lack of sleep, I have come up with two weekly features for this blog! There will be more new stuff to come, but for right now I announce the creation of FANDOM FRIDAYS and a "Currently un-named" what's in my purse!

Fandom Fridays will be a day dedicated to all things NON-MAKEUP/Beauty. Be it a new game, a tv show summary, or a movie review. It will be my nerdom day of awesomeness!

The "Whats in my purse" posts will be once a week (maybe every other week, being as I dont change stuff in my purse often). I'll come up with a better name for it.

And, I also would LOVE to do guest posts/ interviews with other bloggers as well. If any of my readers are interested, shoot me a comment and we can exchange emails and set something up.

Yes, multiple posts in one night. OMG! But, I'm sorely behind and I have SO MUCH I want to share, so I figured why not get started now.

However, I thought I would pass along this tidbit for anyone who hasn't heard yet...

Fyrinnae isn't permanently closed (HUZZAH!), and there have been rumors of such floating around the interwebz. I always give everyone the benefit of the doubt and I highly doubted that Fyrinnae would abandon its fanbase like that. They've always had issues with their site, and I would seriously cry and pout like a lil kid if the rumors were true.

Be patient, that's all ya'll gotta do and they should be up in the next few days! (I can't wait, because I'm almost out of Pixie Epoxy and FLUFF...as well as some more samples. I <3 me some Arcane Shadows)

ELF Primer Trio Review

So, a week or so ago I found myself in Target on my way to work (I love having a Target next to work), and I stumbled upon the ELF display. I was in awe at all the goodies that were laid out before me. It was like I was a kid in a candy store (well, sort of. I'm not 100% in love with ELF products, but I do swear by their cream eyeliners). They had just put everything out and I immediately discarded my search for EOS lip balms in lieu of seeing what new goodies were on sale.

Lo and behold... I found my new holy grail of eyeshadow primers!

For three dollars you get three different primers. A nude, champagne, and a pearl. (I also picked up two of the beauty books, but I haven't had the chance to swatch them or work with them enough to review just yet. But I will!)

I both love and hate these... and after the jump you'll see why.

Now, I made the mistake of leaving these in the car all day when I was at work, in the heat, but they still work just fine (surprisingly). I brought these babies home and right away started playing with them.

The nude one is almost a spot on dupe for TFSI (Too Faced Shadow Insurance, just in case). I mean, they have the same consistency and longevity. And for $3.00 USD, its a steal. This one is by far my favorite one in the trio. There's no sheen or sparkle to this one at all.

The pearl primer has small chunks of glittery stuff in it. I don't even know what it is, but I don't really like it. When I used this one, I covered it up quickly with Blanc Type just to get rid of the shimmer. I don't know what it is. If I want to use a pearl primer, I'll use my NYX pearl primer.

The champagne one isn't as bad as the pearl one, but it's still sub-par compared to the nude one. I used this one for more brown-based looks because it brought out the complexity of the shadows more rather than just popping the over-all color out. I found it took a little more product to fully cover my eye (and I have small-ish eyes) and it felt oilier than would be expected.

I should score these individually because I don't want the bad to outweigh the good, and for 3 dollars, it's not like you're spending a ton. But, I'm a budget beauty geek and I hate wasting money. If you're looking for a dupe of TFSI, get this set just for the nude. Because I give the nude primer a 5/5, easy.

Overall, I would give this a 3.5/5 as a set.

Yay! Finally a post! Okay, so I changed the layout of the blog a bit. And I renamed it. Neekly Chic. It suits me, I think :]. I'm a big video game geek and I love makeup. So I mixed the two together. Geeky girls don't get enough love and recognition!

Ideas and Updates

As I try and fix my camera so I can take decent pictures, I figured I would ask anyone who may be reading this if they have any looks you'd like to see? Feedback is always awesome!

Semi-Precious hits US stores and counters tomorrow, I thought I would like a ton of stuff, but after seeing swatches, I'm not thrilled with it. The MSF's look amazing, but I have a whole drawer full of them that I hardly use now lol I might send out a ISO later on when I have more money if I totally want one.

I have some reviews I'm writing up for some BB creams I bought. I love BB creams, but they're not 'perfect'.

I know I seriously am lacking on entries, and that sucks because Blogger ate all my old posts! So I look like a noob no one likes lol Oh well. I'm not on the ball as I should be, but with working and stuff, I haven't had a lot of time to sit down and plan stuff out. But, I will get better at it, I promise!

I'm probably the worst blogger in the world, but that is going to change!

I've been pretty busy with moving and life and I haven't forgotten about you all (I promise!). I have a few reviews and looks coming up (If I can get my camera to cooperate) and I hope to have some new stuff coming in that I can share with you all.

I have missed you all! And I mean that. We've been settling our new home nicely, but we've been working our asses off to get caught up again. I should have my Surf Baby review up by tomorrow once I get a chance to play around with the two things I got. I also hope to have some BB cream samples coming soon (or my very first purchase of one! YAY!). I also have a MAC Mineralized foundation review as well (a liquid vs compact comparison) and a review of a couple lippies.
